If you are looking to stop wasting so much water on your garden everyday, a great way to do this is to cover the ground with mulch. Mulch chippings are easily found at a local garden or nursery center, and they are chips of wood. The wood is going to retain the water in the ground, and act as a barrier to prevent the water from evaporating into the air. If you are looking to save costs on water, and also to be less wasteful purchasing a bag of mulch is a great way to do this.Want more? Click here/tag There are also other ways to preserve water in your garden.

Instead of spraying your garden with a hose or getting water from the faucet instead set out your watering can, or a bucket. Every time it rains the bucket is going to pick up the water, and you can use that to pour directly onto the roots of your plants, and then over the mulch. This is a great way to water your plants without wasting any water, and to use the mulch to help preserve the water. Mulch comes in a variety of colors and sizes so you don’t have to worry about the look of it.

After researching the “why” of recycling glass, I came across some interesting information. The act of recycling 2 glass bottles saves the equivalent energy of boiling five cups of tea; recycling one glass jar saves enough energy to use a 100 watt light bulb for four hours or power a computer for 25 minutes. Every consumer throws away 331 glass bottles and jars every year. That means nearly 20 billion. If that’s not enough to give us pause about what we’re doing with our trash, consider that recycling glass saves natural gas because the cullet (crushed scrap glass) melts faster than raw materials because the furnace does not have to be set as high. Just like in our homes, the lower the thermostat, the lower the fuel consumption. Recycling just one ton of glass saves about 9 gallons of fuel oil which ultimately means that 1/2 ton of raw material is preserved. Resource recovery is the practice that conserves natural resources by removing material, such as glass, from the waste flow, and recycling it into other uses such as the production of energy. In the future, I will think about how much recycling can save consumers at the gas pump.

Sprinklers can be very wasteful of water and money. A lot of people and business have them on timers. Those timers do not take the weather into consideration and will let them turn on when it is raining. This is one time that they do not need to turn on.

This is a waste of water that everybody is paying for. It is not only for people who are paying for city water but everybody else also. It costs money to run a water pump and every time that the water is running, the pump is too.

Another problem with sprinkler systems is that it is easy to forget to turn them off. They may run for a lot longer than they really need to because of this. Sprinkler systems can run out a lot of water in a matter of a few minutes.

Water is not really free for anybody. For people in the city, it raises their water bill while people who live in the country will have the different show on their electric bill. It is more noticeable on water bills because the electric is higher in the winter from heating costs so people do not realize that it really is costing them money.

Water is a precious resource on our planet that isn’t infinite, and to get clean water for drinking and bathing you have to pay for it. There are many different ways that the city charges you for water, depending on how much you use, or how you have the agreement set up with your landlord. To save money on the costs of water you can try doing a few different things. The first is to cut the time you spend in the shower and limit yourself each day. This is going to save hundreds of gallons of water, and tons of money.

Set out buckets or bins to collect rain to use for water gardens, washing pets or cars. This is going to save you from turning on your hose and making a mess. You can also try using recyclable plates and bowls so you don’t have to waste a lot of water washing dishes in the sink or using a dishwasher. Saving money in any way possible is very important, and if you are cutting down the amount of water you use you are going to cut the costs on your water bill. Stop and think before you fill the sink.
